Reactive Glazing Repair and Replacement

Overview

The University maintains a large, diverse estate across its Egham and London campuses, supporting academic, residential, administrative, and public-facing functions. The estate comprises approximately 112 buildings, including 61 residential and 51 non residential properties, constructed over different periods and incorporating a wide range of glazing systems, window types, and door assemblies. Glazing forms a critical element of the building fabric, contributing to safety, security, thermal performance, weatherproofing, and occupant comfort. Due to the age, heritage, usage intensity, and variation of buildings across the estate, glazing defects such as breakages, failed sealed units, and deterioration of associated components arise on a routine basis and require timely, professional intervention. This Reactive Glazing Repair and Replacement Contract is intended to ensure the University has access to a responsive, competent, and reliable contractor capable of addressing glazing issues as they occur. The Contract shall support the Estates function in maintaining buildings in a safe, compliant, and operational condition, while minimising disruption to students, staff, and visitors.
