Overview
Continuation of delivery of survey (Health and Well-being related questions) previously asked in the SCC/Police Joint Neighbourhood Survey, in order to maintain trend data in the Surrey Health and Wellbeing (HWB) Strategy Index and Scorecard. In the past 3 years the SCC/Surrey Police Joint Neighbourhood Survey (JNS) has been influenced by our SCC Public Health agenda; it has been gathering data related to Health Inequalities / Empowered and Thriving Communities. The responses to 13 of JNS questions have been included in the Health and Wellbeing (HWB) Strategy Index and Scorecard (used to track the Surrey system's progress regarding the delivery of the HWB Strategy), using rolling 12-month totals. These indicators relate to perceptions of residents' local area related to their health and well-being and the impact on them of the cost of living. These indicators have proved extremely useful where other data is not available/reliable. The survey had previously been contracted out by Surrey Police to Opinion Research Services Ltd as part of JNS. As SCC still requires this data to feed into the HWB strategy index and scorecard, a direct award was made. The provider has been delivering the Joint Neighbourhood Survey for a number of years; the methodology of the survey needs to be maintained in order to retain veracity of trend data in the HWB Strategy Index and Scorecard. The annual Index and quarterly Scorecards are utilised by the Surrey HWB Board to measure the Surrey's system's progress against the Surrey HWB Strategy in reducing health inequalities. This contract therefore enables maintenance of momentum of monitoring through Local Government Reform.
