Overview

The provision of this service will support the Council to fulfil its statutory duty to provide short break holidays services for disabled children and young people and their carers, in line with the Children Act 1989 and Children and Families Act 2014 and their associated regulations and guidance. Short break holidays services provide opportunities for disabled children and young people to spend time away from their primary carers. Service Providers will support and assist the parents and carers of children with disabilities by offering play and short break Holidays during school holidays for children and young people with a disability and/or additional needs including those with challenging behaviour and complex and multiple disabilities who are resident in Haringey. Service Providers will deliver social and leisure activities that are child-centred, enjoyable and stimulating, as well as being appropriate to the needs of the user group during school holidays (Summer, Christmas and Easter) and the February, May and October half-term holidays. Following a competitive procurement process, contracts were awarded for the provision of Holiday Services for Children and Young People with Disabilities to two (2) organisations, The Markfield Project and Tower Gardens Community Centre, at a cost of £125,000 each (a total of £250,000 across both contracts). The contracts shall run for a period of 18 months, commencing 31st March 2026 and concluding on 30th September 2027.
