How reviews work
This page explains how reviews of trades are collected and moderated on 123 Tenders, in line with the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 rules on fake and hidden reviews.
Who can leave a review
Only a homeowner whose job request was accepted by a trade through 123 Tenders. Fourteen days after the trade accepts, we email the homeowner a unique link tied to that job and that trade. The link works once. There is no open review form, and trades cannot add reviews themselves.
What we publish
Every genuine review, positive or negative. Each review shows a rating from 1 to 5, the text, the homeowner's first name, the type of job and the date, with the label "Reviewed after a job request made through 123 Tenders".
What we never do
We never edit a review, never hide a review because it is negative, never change the order to favour a trade, and never offer or allow incentives for reviews. Trades cannot pay to remove or improve reviews.
Replies
The trade can post one public reply to each review. Replies are shown under the review.
Reports and removal
Anyone can use "Report this" on a review or reply. We remove content only if it is unlawful or breaks these rules, for example personal information about someone, abuse, or a review that is not about the job. When a review is removed after a report, we keep a record of why.
How we show ratings
The average shown is a simple average of all published reviews for that trade. We show how many reviews it is based on.
