A delivery note travels with goods or records a completed delivery. Couriers, wholesalers, builders' merchants, manufacturers and small transport firms use it to show what was expected at the destination and to support later checks. A useful note contains a unique job reference, customer, delivery address, date, item description, driver, vehicle registration and any relevant instruction or exception. Prices are often left to the invoice unless the business deliberately includes them.
Describe items clearly enough to distinguish similar products and use quantities that can be checked at handover. Record shortages, damage, refused items or failed access rather than altering the original instruction without explanation. Common mistakes include missing references, vague item descriptions, no destination contact and assuming a delivery note alone proves acceptance. If a recipient signs a copy, keep it with the job record according to your retention needs. This template produces a straightforward editable delivery record. It does not provide live tracking, route planning, electronic signatures, proof-of-delivery verification or integration with a carrier system.
