Using this template

A job sheet records what happened on a particular visit or piece of work. Trades, maintenance contractors, engineers and service businesses use it to brief staff, support customer sign-off, prepare invoices and keep an operational history. A clear job sheet identifies the job or client, the date, work carried out, materials used, hours spent and any relevant notes. It should let someone who was not present understand what was completed and what remains outstanding.

Use a consistent job reference that can also appear on quotes, purchase orders and invoices. Describe the work in specific, factual terms and separate completed work from recommendations or future tasks. Common errors include recording only 'job done', omitting materials later charged to the customer, failing to note access problems, and changing a signed record without explaining the correction. Review the sheet before invoicing so quantities and hours agree with the commercial record. This template provides an editable document, not a contract, technical certificate, safety record or proof that the customer accepted the work.
